With nearly fifteen years of recruiting and management experience, Tom Truitt saw an opportunity to merge his recruiting skills with his first passion – music – and formed MusicRowSearch. MusicRowSearch is a first of it’s kind full service executive search firm which focuses exclusively on placements within the music industry.


Tom Truitt, CEO of MusicRowSearch, is the industry leader in placing top level executives in all facets of the music industry: labels, artists management firms, business management, booking, venues and publishing. Music Row Search approaches searches differently than most firms. “In traditional recruiting, an accountant is an accountant regardless of the corporate setting where the work takes place.  Our approach is very different.  We focus on the type of company we serve- the entertainment industry with emphasis on music and sports.  Accordingly we place senior level executives across a multitude of functions within such companies marketing, technology, finance, etc.  The reason we do this is we understand the unique challenges that the music industry faces and are dialed into the specific skills and experiences required by new music economy companies.” Truitt says.


Self-proclaimed serial networker Truitt founded the Music Industry Forum on Linkedin. Music Industry Forum is a networking group that features high-value content ranging from industry trends to lively editorials on thorny and pressing music industry issues—with opportunity for open dialogue with their peers. The group and it’s blog provide a means for music industry executives to network, collaborate and job hunt while helping the industry remain viable and vital to the people who make music and whose livelihoods depend on it. There are nearly 5,000 members and Truitt receives approximately 400 new requests a month for membership.

Truitt earned his MBA from Vanderbilt University’s Owen School of Management and his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a member of the National Association of Personnel Services and holds a Certified Personnel Consultant designation. Tom is active in several charities including the Martha O’Bryan Center, Young Life, Habitat for Humanity and Hands on Nashville. He resides in Nashville, TN with his wife and two children.
